Even on an overcast day, this park is breathtaking. We went to the visitor’s center to see what was going on in the park that week, and found out that the moose were very active, defending their ladies and fighting for more. Of course, we launched on a mission to find them.

Before we could even get out of the parking lot, we encountered a ranger directing people around a patch of trees where a momma bear and her cubs were climbing those trees and having a snack. We already loved this park.

We didn’t have to look far to find our moose. Almost every morning and every evening, they walked through our campsite! These animals are smaller than the ones we’ve seen in Alaska, but still very big and very intimidating. One morning, I think we counted 9 moose. It was pretty cool to be able to look out the kitchen window and watch them while enjoying breakfast.

Sunset with moose in the campground can’t be beat.

Of course there were also plenty of buffalo and prong horns to watch, too. The buffalo kept their distance, so no close encounters this week. The prong horns were not very shy, though.

The mountains themselves were so incredibly beautiful. No matter the time of day, or our vantage point, they were distracting, to say the least.
We spent one soggy day checking out Jackson Hole. Very different vibe than we’d been experiencing over the past few weeks. We went from “don’t walk off the trails” and “leave all plants and animals alone”, to shops full of taxidermied animals, fur clothing, and other interesting trinkets.

We wrapped it up with one more encounter with the buffalo.

Another amazing park that gave us wonderful memories.
Nice pictures!!
