Shenandoah National Park & the Blue Ridge Parkway

Our final state in the countdown: Virginia!  We still have a few more national parks to see, but we’ve checked off all 50 States (drove through the lower 48 with the camper, visited Alaska and Hawaii by boat and plane).  We actually get to check something off our bucket list.  Woo Hoo!

We’ve wanted to travel both SKyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park as well as the full length of the Blue Ridge Parkway.  The weather and changing fall leaves put on quite a show for us.  It was another drive that took quite some time, because we stopped at every overlook, pull out, and cool thing we saw on the side of the road.

We had traveled part of the parkway earlier in the year, but couldn’t complete the trip due to snow related road closures.  This time, there was no snow, and we had a fabulous time.  On our last day there, some of our views were obscured by a bank of clouds rolling in, but as they burned off, they added a beautiful mist to the mountains.  It is something everyone should see at least once in their lives.
