Acadia National Park

On our way to Acadia, we made a few stops along the way to take it all in.  We were also about to start the countdown of our final 10 states, which was pretty exciting.

In Vermont (#10), we had our first taste of fall colors, got our fill of maple everything at a small farm (syrup, candies, maple syrup cured meats…yummy!), and toured Ben & Jerry’s.  They not only shared samples of their ice cream, but some lovely sorbet, too.

New Hampshire (#9) had even more fall colors.  Still not in full swing, but amazing to see.  It was early in their color season, and the middle of the week, so we often found ourselves to be the only ones at overlooks.

# 7 in our final countdown was Maine.  After many side trips along the way, we eventually made it to Acadia National Park.  The drive to our campground was beautiful, and we were eager to get in some exploring.  Of course we had to grab lunch first, and the only things allowed on the menu was lobstah rolls and chowder.

Bellies full and happy, we set off to take in the beauty of the area and the park.  It was a little windy on the hill tops.  The beaches reminded us of home, which we weren’t expecting.  It was a great day.

Day two was just as sunny, but not quite as cold.  We worked up quite an appetite exploring the area, so we had to have more lobster for lunch.  We could get used to this.

We loved Maine, the park, the harbor, and the people we met.  Some new friends helps us update our map, and before we new it, we were ready to hit the road again.
