Most people know we like warm weather. The warmer the better, right? Well, Death Valley tested our claim in the best way. All that heat and no humidity was glorious.

At 9 AM, the temperature was already perfect, and it was only going to get warmer. We made sure the truck had plenty of coolant, and we had plenty of water, and off we went on our adventure.

There are plenty of warning signs posted all over the park regarding the heat and not walking after 10 AM. This was our greeting at the salt flats. We didn’t walk very far, as the flats didn’t seem to be getting any saltier or flatter. It was still an amazing sight.

Badwater Basin Salt Flats sit at 282 feet below sea level. There are also interesting smells coming from the muddy pools at the edge of the flats. Sea level is marked on the hill behind us with a plaque (arrow added). You can just see our camper at the end of the boardwalk back there, too.

Sun and sand, just need some waves. We often felt alone in the park, which made for some great photo opportunities.
We loved our trip down Artist Drive, another park side road that does not allow vehicles longer than 25 feet. We loved the changes in the terrain texture and colors, and could see why they named it so. Overall, a beautiful park, and we’re so glad we went.
