At home, we are used to hot springs that you can hike to, and can enjoy while surrounded by trees and woodland creatures and such. That is pretty much what we envisioned for Hot Springs National Park. We were in for a surprise.

This park is in the city of Hot Springs, Arkansas. There are some beautiful water features nestled in between shops and at the back of courtyards.

There are also spring fed water fountains around town where you can get a drink, or fill a canteen.
The springs still feed some of the original bath houses along the main road through the center of town. For a small fee, you can soak in one of these historic baths, too.

We opted to walk around town instead of taking a dip, and we absolutely loved all the displays and old buildings.

Our campsite near the park was next to a small stream, and we almost had the campground to ourselves. It was a wonderfully peaceful spot to stay.
