Morrow Bay

Our amazing Hearst Castle guide raved about a cafe in Morrow Bay, so of course, we had to go check it out.  As we neared the parking lot, we saw something from hubby’s past.  There sat a Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV).

In the 1960s, hubby’s father was one of the chief design engineers of it.  In fact, we have a photo from January 1970 of hubby standing in front of it with another engineer on the project.  We couldn’t believe our eyes!  Granted, it looks a little different today than it did in 1970, but it was the same vessel.

Honestly, what are the odds we would be directed to a cafe next to this blast from his past?

We also have an experiment they conducted on a Styrofoam cup, that shows the impact of submerging to 4000 feet, where it endured over 170 pounds per square inch ( PSI).

Seeing this was truly the highlight of our week.

Oh, and our breakfast was delicious, too.
