Time Flies

Tomorrow will be our first anniversary as full time RVers!  Where did the year go?  Some days it feels like we are just getting started.  We are about half way through our journey, and are excited to see what we will encounter and experience this year.

There is still so much for us to learn about life on the road.  A big surprise for us is that our little camper is still the right size for us.

When we started this journey, we gave ourselves permission to upgrade to something bigger after a few months if we were driving each other crazy in such a cozy space.  We are realistic, and we know that experiencing life on the road is very different than the concept of it.  We’ve even been to a few RV shows to check out what is out there.  Time and time again, we agreed that we liked our set up best.  Yay for tiny living!

To make our cozy palace feel like home, we upgraded the inside a bit.  Just like in a ‘real’ house, a coat of paint and a carefully placed back-splash make a huge difference.  Here are a few before and after pictures of the interior:

Before After Bathroom

Bathroom (added back-splash, corner shelves, and upgraded the shower head)

Before After Kitchen

Kitchen (painted over plastic wall paper, added back-splash, and watchful beast gnome)

Before After Bedroom

Bedroom (replaced plastic room divider with blackout curtain, added blackout to front window, replaced lower window’s curtains with privacy frost, and extended back-splash)

We also bought a remnant of Berber carpet, which provided a little extra warmth when we were in colder weather, and feels great on the feet.  It is still snug and cozy, but feels like home.

We continue to weed out some of our over packing, and have learned that paper plates are handy in saving water, then use to start campfires or go into one of the composting bins we’ve found at many campgrounds.

One of our favorite things to do while we are on this journey remains the same:  spending quality time with family and friends we are able to see along the way.  Normally we would only see our loved ones at large gatherings, where we’re lucky to spend a few minutes with any one person. On this trip, we get to enjoy quality time with people in their own relaxed environment.  It has been fantastic.

We hope to see more of you this year!
