There is something about bright sunshine and hot weather that just makes us happy. Our moods improve, our bodies start to feel better, and everything just seems right in the world. That being said, we were about to embark on our first real weather test. Can we handle 100+ degree heat on this journey? Thankfully, the truck has AC, so we weren’t tested too much.

Red Rock Canyon was worth exploring in that kind of heat. And as an added bonus, when there is triple digit heat, it is considered off-season. This means the Canyon was not very crowded. We must admit, not having to deal with throngs of people is an extra bonus for us.

We picked up a couple of those cool rags to help prevent overheating, and set off to explore. We were careful to take many breaks in the AC of the truck, and probably each drank a gallon of water that afternoon.

We took quite a few photos in our day trip of the canyon, but they honestly do not come close to capturing the beauty in that area. The sky was bluer, the rocks a more vibrant red, and the patterns etched into them by the wind made them look like they could move.

Luckily, many of the colorful formations were visible from the cab of the truck, so we could appreciate the amazing colors from cushy seats with the AC blasting on high. So those who are not big on hiking, or sensitive to the weather, could still enjoy it during this beautiful time of year.

If you are in Nevada, please try to make the trek to this Conservation Area.
